National Teen Driver Safety Week

Promote National Teen Driver Safety Week by conducting an awareness event at your school or online.

National Teen Driver Safety Week is October 21-27, 2018. This week and every week, parents should have conversations with their teens about the important rules they need to follow to stay safe behind the wheel of a passenger car, truck, or SUV. These rules address the greatest dangers for teen drivers: alcohol, inconsistent or no seat belt use, distracted and drowsy driving, speeding, and number of passengers.

Impact Teen Drivers

Traffic collisions have been the leading cause of death for American teens for generations. The California Highway Patrol in collaboration with Impact Teen Drivers is dedicated to reversing this pervasive yet 100% preventable crisis. The partnership between CHP and Impact Teen Drivers (ITD) started in 2007.

Street Smarts

A Smart Program for Safer Streets.

Ever run a red light, jaywalk or speed through a school zone? Most of us have, but we shouldn't. That's why the City of San Jose started the Street Smarts program in 2002 for schools and neighborhoods. This traffic safety education program is designed to get people thinking to help make our streets safer.

Santa Cruz Friday Night Live Partnership

Santa Cruz Friday Night Live Partnership is comprised of the Friday Night Live (FNL) and Club Live (CL) programs. These programs are multi-cultural, youth driven and lead, designed to prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug use among middle school and high school students.

Friday Night Live (FNL) promotes:

Shoulder Tap, Minor Decoy, and TRACE Education and Enforcement

The Minor Decoy program is a very effective tool used to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors.  This enforcement program uses minor decoys that are under the age of 21 and under direct supervision of law enforcement, to enter ABC licensed premises and try to purchase alcohol.  If an employee sells alcohol to the minor deco they are arrested for violating Section 25658(a) of the Business and Professions Code - Sales of alcohol to a minor.  In addition, ABC takes administrative action against the premises which can result in a fine, suspension or revocation of the ABC license.

MADD Power of You(th)

YOU'RE NOT ALONE.

Not All Teens Drink. Actually Most Don't.

You may know some teens who drink. You may even have tried it yourself. But the truth is three out of four teens don't drink. That means the majority is staying alcohol free until 21! Power of You(th) encourages teens to take a stand against and support one another.

MADD Power of Parents

MADD's Power of Parents program empowers parents of middle school and high school students to have ongoing, intentional conversations about the dangers and consequences of underage drinking. Research shows that young people who drink are a danger to themselves, their friends, and others. For more than 20 years, hundreds of high quality clinical studies in the United States and Europe have shown that the earlier in the life young people drink, the more frequent and severe the problems they face in the short and long term.

Teens in the Driver Seat

Teens in the Driver Seat is an initiative under the Texas A&M Transportation Institute's Youth Transportation Safety (YTS) Program. YTS seeks to save lives and reduce injuries among America's youth by developing and delivering the nation's most comprehensive suite of transportation safety programs and projects.

Started in 2002, Teens in the Driver Seat is one of the first peer-to-peer programs for teens that focuses solely on traffic safety and addresses all major risks for this age group.

California Friday Night Live Partnership

The California Friday Night Live Partnership (CFNLP) provides the leadership and field support needed for continued growth and enhancement of Friday Night Live (FNL), Club Live (CL), Friday Night Live Kids (FNLK), and FNL Mentoring (FNLM). In March of 1996, the CFNLP was formed in response to the Friday Night Live system's  need to support the following goals:

  • To build alliances in support of youth development
